Dr. Ajay Kumar Gupta
Biography
Dr. Ajay Gupta is a professor at VES Business School, India, and an Erasmus Mundus Fellow from the University of Milan, Italy. He is a professional senior trainer for ATLAS.ti in Asiapacific region and holds a Ph.D. in management and labor studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, along with a master’s degree in management from the Asian Institute of Management in Manila, Philippines. With nearly three decades of diverse experience including roles in the Indian Air Force, banking, and management education, he specializes in teaching human resource management, organizational psychology, qualitative research methods and data analysis, HR analytics, business ethics, organizational development and change, and leadership. He consistently received outstanding faculty feedback.
Dr. Gupta has taught at TAPMI, Manipal, an AACSB-accredited management institute, and is invited faculty at prestigious institutions such as IIM, TISS, and IIPS. Dr. Gupta has conducted numerous workshops & webinars internationally, including at Jagiellonian University in Poland, University of Cartagena in Spain, and University of British Columbia in Canada. He also serves as a doctoral advisory committee member at TISS, and is a reviewer of international journal of qualitative methods, journal of managerial psychology and methodological innovations. Dr. Gupta was invited to evaluate the Doctor of Business Administration thesis at MANCOSA in Durban, South Africa.
Dr. Gupta has been actively involved in organizing and chairing sessions at world conferences on qualitative research, including the 2024 in Johannesburg, South Africa, and upcoming 2025 and 2026 conferences hosted by universities in Poland and Spain. He has delivered over 40 faculty and management development workshops across academic institutions, NGOs, and businesses in India and abroad. He has completed consultancy projects such as the European Union co-funded AIDEdu initiative and in-house training programs for civil secretariat employees.
Dr. Ajay Gupta has authored three books and over 30 journal articles, including 7 Scopusindexed publications. His books include Corporate Demons, The Handbook on Management Cases: A Practitioner’s View, Qualitative Methods and Data Analysis using ATLAS.ti: A Comprehensive Researcher’s Manual (Springer). Dr Gupta is the editor of the book Computer Supported Qualitative Research (WCQR2025): New Trends in Qualitative Research (WCQR2025) (Springer).
