Business Analytics and Smart Cities Conference
Sometimes, the best lessons don’t come from textbooks—they come from real situations that push you to act, decide, and lead. That’s exactly what happened when we got the chance to be part of the Business Analytics and Smart Cities Conference at Vivekanand Business School (VBS Mumbai).
We started planning the event two months in advance. Honestly, it felt like a mini corporate project. From managing schedules and contacting speakers to handling event logistics, each day brought a new challenge—and with it, a new lesson. BASIC (as we call the conference) wasn’t just about pulling off a great event. It became a crash course in teamwork, time management, and communication.
As someone pursuing a PGDM in Business Analytics, this was a perfect space to apply what we’d been learning in class. But what made it even more exciting was how students from other specializations—Marketing, HR, Operations, and Finance—also brought their strengths to the table. It felt like a real company environment where different departments come together with one goal.
Real Exposure, Real Growth
One of the biggest highlights? Hosting speakers from Spain. It was our first time interacting with international experts in such a setting, and the insights they shared about Smart Cities and future trends in analytics were eye-opening. It made us realize how fast things are changing in the world of business and how important it is to stay updated with global trends.
For many of us, this was more than just a college event. It was our first time handling international coordination, managing participants for competitions like Data Quezt, and making sure everything ran smoothly. And when things didn’t go as planned (which happened a few times), we learned how to adapt and fix things on the fly. No classroom session could’ve taught us that better.
VBS really supports this kind of learning. Whether it’s through events like BASIC, live projects, or corporate interactions, the PGDM program is built to prepare us for real-world challenges. It’s not just theory—we’re pushed to actually do things, take initiative, and lead.
Why It Mattered
Looking back, BASIC wasn’t just another event on the calendar. It was a turning point. It helped us see what we’re capable of when we step out of our comfort zones. It taught us how to manage stress, collaborate with different people, and still deliver something that mattered.
That’s one of the reasons why I feel proud to be part of Vivekanand Business School. It’s not just about earning a PGDM degree. It’s about becoming someone who can take on the world with confidence, skill, and a sense of purpose.
More Than a Course—It’s a Journey at VBS Mumbai
At VBS, learning doesn’t stop at lectures. If you’re doing a PGDM here—whether in Business Analytics, Marketing, HR, Finance, or Operations—you’re expected to get your hands dirty. You work on live projects, use tools like Python, Tableau, or Power BI, and sometimes even work with companies on real cases. And the best part? You’re not doing it alone. You have faculty, mentors, and industry experts guiding you every step of the way.
The global exposure is also a big part of the VBS experience. Conferences like BASIC, student exchange programs, and international collaborations aren’t just add-ons—they’re part of how the college prepares us to think globally while solving local problems.
It’s this blend of exposure, experience, and encouragement that makes Vivekanand Business School stand out among PGDM colleges in Mumbai. Whether you’re in your first trimester or preparing for placements, the journey is designed to make you job-ready, world-aware, and grounded in values.
