Ms. Bhoomika Sharma, Vivekanand alumni (PGDM batch 2023-25) who is currently working as a Senior Executive – Corporate in Naukri.com. She looks back at her journey in PGDM from Vivekanand and shares the key experiences that contributed significantly to her personal and professional growth.

Which part of the PGDM journey at Vivekanand influenced you the most and why? 

For me the most influential part was the peer learning environment. The fact I was surrounded by motivated classmates created an environment where individual members motivated each other to think more critically and work more efficiently. Discussions, group assignments, and other informal conversations helped me see things from many different perspectives. Over time, this experience helped me expand my way of thinking and become comfortable working with a wide variety of professionals – a trait that is invaluable in the corporate landscape of today.  

How did Vivekanand prepare you for real-world challenges in your career? 

The Vivekanand PGDM program empowered me with the right skills as well as the confidence to face real-world challenges. We learned theory but there was equal importance given to applying our learning in actual company situations. This combination allowed me to understand how to deal with situations in a pragmatic manner. My internship experience further enhanced this learning experience by introducing me to the true pace and expectations of work environments along with the operational dynamics of the workplace. Throughout the program the emphasis was given on communication, teamwork and problem-solving, which gave me the confidence needed to start my first position.  

How did the faculty/ placements/ industry exposure contribute to your journey?  

The faculty and placement team were very instrumental in my development. Their approachability and genuine commitment to our development were evident whenever we needed clarity, advice, or interviews preparation. They always took time to support us and offer guidance, which gave me strong sense of direction. This mentorship helped me stay confident and focused throughout the placement process.  

What are your top 3 reasons why you would recommend Vivekanand to future students?  

Firstly, the program strong provides experiential learning; the teaching method is practical, which helps students understand how things actually work when they enter the  workforce. Secondly, the faculty and mentors have a comprehensive role beyond teaching and providing guidance, advice and constant support, which contributes to the confidence of the students throughout their studies. Lastly, the curriculum promotes overall development by offering many extra-curricular opportunities (events, clubs, and activities) that can help students develop both personally and professionally. These collective experiences build confidence and prepare students for the role they will play in the future.
