The Pandemic of Covid-19 has enlightened new ways of this virtual world. It has proved to be a blessing in disguise for many where as a bane for few. The new ways of living in this virtual world have been adopted by one and all so as to be at par with the norms of society. Disruption caused by the Covid -19 Pandemic is unprecedented which has resulted in many social and economic changes. To ensure the continuity of education despite the lockdown, we at VBS have sought the use of technology and offer online classes and learning experiences as a substitute for in-class time. Examinations were also affected, causing disruption to students’ learning trajectories and progression. Remote learning has become a lifeline for education during the pandemic but the opportunities that digital technologies offer go well beyond a stopgap solution during this period of crisis. Digital technology has given an entirely new outlook to what one learns, how they learn and where and when they learn by bridging the gap of space and time. Moreover, technology has just not changed the methods of teaching and learning, but has also elevated the role of teachers from imparting received knowledge towards working as co-creators of knowledge, as mentors and as evaluators.
Rightfully it’s said that learning never stops and no disruption can stop us at VBS from imparting and gaining knowledge; although it being imparted virtually.
The outbreak of corona virus has got in new ways of learning’s at VBS, which include:
Virtual Learning works the most effective tool for retaining and imparting knowledge among learners and maintaining an access to continued learning under this Covid situation which is possible only by sharing knowledge virtually.
Development of Robust Systems by engaging virtually comes to ease when there are strong online systems established by IT department at VBS who plays a major role in ensuring no hiccups from technology front.
Variable Applicability of knowledge in education has taken a new turn with the outbreak of pandemic, as now the challenges of virtual systems will bring in more and more learning’s from around the globe. The faculties at VBS strive to ensure applicability of imparted knowledge among students.
The period of learning at home has made visible the many benefits that students gain from being able to learn in close contact with their teachers and peers, with full access with wide variety of educational, social and health related services that institutes offer. Effective learning out of institutes has placed greater demands on students’ autonomy, capacity for independent learning, executive functioning, self monitoring and capacity to learn online are the essential skills required in the present as well as future.
New Opportunities evolve to guard against adversity, and defining the skills, education and training required for supporting new developments and willingly adapting to it.
Global Collaboration: Pandemic has induced greater global collaboration between students and academia. Sharing of knowledge globally via joint teaching, virtual guest lectures has enriched a global perspective among students. This pandemic has compiled students and faculties together globally so as to share knowledge. This has decreased the digital divide and opened new avenues globally.
Redesigning the curriculum: The faculties at VBS have evaluated the changes to be done while moving from the path of traditional education towards redesigning the course content according to the current and future needs which is suitable for both online and offline learning.
Real change takes place in deep crisis and pandemic holds the possibility that won’t return to the status quo when things return to “normal”. The crisis has deep disruptive implications for education but doesn’t have any predetermined outcomes. So, we have adapted to the change and learnt to sustain with it.
Future of education in these disruptive times:
Post the pandemic; the education system can see a blend of e-learning and mainstream face-to-face teaching with boost from traditional universities as well as education sector. This will further create a scope for opening new avenues of Global Connect where knowledge can be passed virtually i.e. overcoming the border barriers.
Education sector has been undergoing a dramatic digital transformation due to pandemic. The main agenda of institutes lies in providing quality education in this era of digital transformation, disruptive technological innovation and accelerated change in educational framework to suit to the current Pandemic situation.
This pandemic has called in to renew the commitment to Sustainable development Goals by ensuring that the youth has an opportunity to succeed by developing their knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to contribute globally.
Although the current crisis has tested our ability to deal with large scale disruptions, it’s now our responsibility to build a more resilient culture globally and adapt to it.
“Change is the only thing that is constant; the ones who can adapt and change according to the situation are the ones who succeed always!”
