Vivekanand PGDM Alumni Review: Insights from Mr. Kanishk Vig, Assistant Manager at Nuvama

The Vivekanand PGDM program contributed greatly towards orienting Mr. Kanishk Vig (PGDM Batch 2021-2023) to the world of finance. His experience at Vivekanand helped him to develop professionally, starting with understanding trends in the domain, and to having practical exposure. Mr. Kanishk is currently serving in Nuvama Wealth and Investment Limited as an Assistant Manager and he reflects on the learning process that helped him to enter into the industry.

To understand his PGDM experience at Vivekanand more closely, here are Mr. Kanishk’s insights on what made his journey meaningful and career shaping.

Q. Which part of your PGDM journey at Vivekanand influenced you the most and why?

The second year has had the most influence on me. It was a phase that was more aligned to the real world since we delved into domain specific tendencies, general market developments and case discussions that were relevant to the industry. Everything began to fall into place during this period, what we were learning and how it is applicable in the finance field. This deeper understanding helped me build confidence before stepping into the corporate world.

Q. How did Vivekanand prepare you for real-world challenges in your career?

Honestly, much of what I do at work today was down to the practice that I had there at Vivekanand, presenting confidently, analyzing situations and adapting quickly. The institute subjected us to various assignments, deadlines, working in a team, and market-related tasks. The experiences helped me to be comfortable with the fast-paced industry. Although any classroom cannot be a complete simulation of real world challenges, Vivekanand certainly enabled me understand how to handle them better and to be more knowledgeable about them.

Q. How did the faculty, placements, or industry exposure support your journey?

The exposure to industry at Vivekanand was carefully ingrained into our practice. The placement team ensured we interacted with experts, attended corporate sessions and understood what companies demand. Their guidance on polishing our resumes to interviewing made a huge difference. The faculty were very active as they linked what we learned with the existing market realities. Such a combination assisted me in remaining in tandem with industry expectations.

Q. What are your top 3 reasons to recommend Vivekanand to future students?

The list is not exhaustive but if I had to give the 3 best reasons to suggest Vivekanand they would certainly be:

State-of-the-Art Infrastructure: The classrooms, digital facilities and specially designed learning environment makes concentration and productivity a natural way of life on the campus The Vivekanand campus climate literally makes learning easy and the day-to-day activities simple.

Credible Placements: The other area that I really liked was the commitment of placement team.  The team worked actively in preparation of the students by resume building sessions, mock interviews, and frequent guidance. They made attempts to match students to the appropriate companies and positions instead of filling quotas.

Exposure to Real-Life Learning: Workshops, discussions in classrooms and exposure to market trends can be used to connect the concepts with the real-life situations. Vivekanand curriculum is balanced with theory and real time information, and therefore students are industry ready.

In reflection of my experience, I can truly say that a mix of academic  and practical exposure  contributed significantly to my successful beginning. My shift to Nuvama indicates the type of confidence and job preparedness that I had developed during my PGDM at Vivekanand.
