Vivekanand PGDM Alumni Review: Mr. Sanket Deshmukh’s Experience of Turning Potential into Performance

At Vivekanand, we take pride in the holistic development of our students and the careers they build after the PGDM journey. Here’s how Mr. Sanket Deshmukh, Batch 2022–2024, transformed his campus learnings into corporate competence in his current role as an Associate – Business Development and Operations at Celnet

From leading the Branding Cell to learning from faculty with rich industry experience, he gained exposure that extended far beyond academics. His journey is a testament of how Vivekanand equips students with practical skills, confidence, and the right mindset to perform in demanding professional roles.

In Mr. Sanket’s words, here’s a reflection on his PGDM journey and how it strengthened his career foundation.

Q. Which part of the PGDM journey at Vivekanand influenced you the most and why?

Serving as the President of the Branding Cell was a turning point for me. The responsibility pushed me into real-time situations where decisions had to be made quickly and thoughtfully. I learned how to manage diverse teams, motivate people with different working styles, and resolve conflicts without affecting outcomes. Working under strict timelines taught me discipline and prioritization. Most importantly, the role helped me understand what leadership really looks like. It is not about giving instructions; it’s about owning outcomes, supporting your team, and making decisions that genuinely create an impact.

Q. How did Vivekanand prepare you for real-world challenges in your career?

What truly helped me prepare for the corporate world was the way our faculty connected teaching with real experience. Having strong corporate backgrounds, they often shared scenarios they had personally tackled. Listening to those real scenarios gave me a kind of clarity that textbooks alone could not provide. It prepared me mentally for the challenges that come with a corporate role. When I entered Celnet, I felt that I already had a sense of how things work, how fast decisions are made, and how important it is to stay adaptable.

Q. How did the faculty, placements, or industry exposure support your journey?

The faculty played a very big role in shaping my approach. Professors had decades of industry knowledge, and the situations they shared helped me gauge the complexities I would face in the coming years. Whether it was handling pressure, understanding expectations from leadership, or just learning how to think structurally, those classroom conversations gave me a strong foundation. The placement team ensured that we were not only academically ready but also professionally prepared. Through mock interviews, workshops, and industry interactions, I learned how to communicate effectively and approach challenges with a problem-solving attitude The institute’s exposure to industry practices helped me bridge the gap between academic learning and what companies actually need.

Q. What are your top 3 reasons to recommend Vivekanand to future students?

For me, the top three reasons to recommend Vivekanand are very clear and based on what I genuinely experienced during my two years there.

First, the Campus. The atmosphere is positive and supportive, whether it’s the classrooms, library, or activity spaces, everything feels designed to help you learn better and stay focused. It genuinely creates the right mindset for growth.

Second, the ROI. The kind of exposure, learning opportunities, and overall development I got during my PGDM made the investment truly worthwhile. From industry interactions to committee work, every experience added value that I could directly use in my career.

Third, the Extra-Curricular Activities. Being part of committees, managing events, and taking up responsibilities helped me develop leadership, confidence, and teamwork, the skills that matter just as much as academics. These experiences shaped me in ways a classroom alone cannot.

Together, these three factors make Vivekanand a place where you don’t just earn a degree, you actually evolve as a professional and as a person.
