Vivekanand PGDM Alumni Review – Ms. Shraoshee Majumdar’s Journey of Learning, Challenges, and Growth
Ms. Shraoshee Majumdar (PGDM Batch 2019–2021) is currently working as an Assistant Manager – SOH at Nexus Select Malls. She reflects on the academic experiences, challenges, and campus life that shaped her journey during the PGDM program.

Which part of the PGDM journey at Vivekanand influenced you the most and why?
Among the many experiences I had, the marketing lectures, particularly by Prof. Ravi Jeswani, stand out. They didn’t just cover theory but brought marketing alive through real-life case discussions, practical examples, and market-driven insights. Alongside this, the analytics-based subjects related to marketing gave me the ability to interpret data, study consumer behavior patterns, and back decisions with measurable insights. This blend of conceptual clarity and analytical exposure gave me confidence in choosing marketing as a career path and helped me connect classroom learning with industry application.
How did Vivekanand prepare you for real-world challenges in your career?
The PGDM program gave me an early sense of how competitive and dynamic the corporate world truly is. Through assignments, case studies, and projects, I learned how to think critically, manage deadlines, and present solutions effectively skills that I rely on daily in my professional role. It also instilled adaptability, which I believe is crucial, especially in sectors like retail and mall management where trends shift rapidly.
How did industry exposure and campus life shape your journey?
Even though 2021 was a difficult year post-pandemic, there were plenty of opportunities to engage with industry professionals through guest lectures and seminars. These interactions helped me understand how businesses were adapting to change and prepared me mentally to face challenges head-on.
Beyond academics, the vibrant campus culture made a huge difference. Fests, club activities, and student-led initiatives gave me a chance to interact with peers, work in teams, and express creativity outside the classroom. These experiences improved my confidence, communication, and ability to collaborate qualities that continue to help me in my career today.
What are your top 3 reasons to recommend Vivekanand to future students?
I would recommend Vivekanand to aspiring students for several reasons. First, the faculty are approachable and insightful. They go beyond theory to bring in practical knowledge and industry perspectives, making the classroom experience much more engaging. Second, the placements though my batch faced challenges during the pandemic, I’ve seen how the institute has picked up really well in the following years, with reputed companies recruiting across sectors. Finally, the fests and student-driven club activities bring incredible vibrancy to campus life, fostering teamwork and helping students discover strengths beyond academics that continue to add value in their professional journey.
Make the most of every opportunity inside and outside the classroom because those experiences will shape both your career and your confidence.
