My Experience with the PGDM Program
Earning a Master’s degree helps one gain specialised knowledge to advance in your field and that’s the reason why I decided to start one of the most important phases of my life with the PGDM course at Vivekanand Institute of Management Studies and Research (VESIM). I got admitted in the 2018-2020 batch and my aim was to be a better version of my existing self, be ready to work in the corporate and to acquire and master new skills in my field, Human Resources. The PGDM course had a lot to offer including a cross cultural exposure and a global perspective to the students, a golden chance to study at its International B-Schools and Universities though their extensive International Student Exchange Program.
The course began with an Outbound Program of 3 days where our professors encouraged us to bond with fellow students by forming random teams and assigning us with ‘Management-based’ activities and games. This honestly was one of the best ways to enrich your holistic learning experiences.
Back at the institute, my day was all about lectures, a lot of reading, researching and a lot of learning every single day. I remember my first presentation at VESIM. It was, ‘Block chain Technology and its implementation in the Banking Sector’. The amount of knowledge that I gained while making this presentation gave me yet another reason to be proud of getting admitted for the course. PGDM at VESIM offers endless opportunities for all the students and one of them being able to learn computer programming language, SAS. I learnt a lot about Visual Analytics in these sessions and also made projects on the given datasets.
My experience with the PGDM course at VESIM taught me one fundamental thing- Life is all about learning, gaining knowledge and growing. The more you concentrate on the ‘learning’ aspect, the more you can achieve. I based my entire journey at VESIM on this belief and explored so many new things and it was this attitude that helped me excel in my academics and get selected for the Student Exchange Programme which VESIM offers at UPCT, Spain. The program included a fully funded Erasmus+ scholarship offered by the European Council. At UPCT, Spain I studied a module of subjects and reports that gave me insights on the statistical aspects of corporate functions. I also assisted one of my professors with his research paper and that helped in widening my career prospects in the future. I am thankful to VESIM and their wonderfully designed PGDM Program for giving such global opportunities to their students.
I studied subjects related to my specialisation, Human Resources in second year of PGDM and this has been one of the most enriching experiences. Not only were all the subjects designed with updated content, but also the professors helped us gain hands on learning experience by conducting workshops in corporations like RCF, live projects and many guest lectures from industry experts. All this helped me understand the corporate better. Amidst all these learning experiences, the Human Resources Department of VESIM associated with SHRM, one of world’s biggest HR body to curate a Master’s Degree Certification for their students. This additional course took my overall knowledge about my subject to a next level and the final certification gave an edge to my career.
Overall, the PGDM course at VESIM helped to grow, learn and I achieved all the goals that I had before started my journey with this course. I am thankful to VESIM for providing us students with such a platform.
